Dental Sleep medicine is a growing field, with sleep problems becoming recognised as real health issues for patients of all ages. Although CPAP is considered to be the gold standard treatment, it is not an appropriate treatment option for every patient. An alternative, the mandibular advancement splint, may be the answer. New oral appliances are being developed and it is hard to work out which appliances to use. Geraldine will discuss the general qualities required in mandibular advancement splints and look at various appliances to help you choose what will work best for you and your patients.
