The presentation covers the regulatory structure in Australia, with particular attention to the NSW model. There will then be a deeper analysis and insights provided on the types, rates and outcomes of complaints seen made against dental practitioners and how this compares to other health professions. A few case studies will be shared by way of providing context to how and why the Council deals with complaints. Finally, there will be reflections on how regulation has changed and a look to the future with emerging trends seen.
Colin Borg is the Executive Officer of the Dental Council of NSW. Through his roles with the NSW Medical Board; the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and the Health Professional Councils Authority, he has gained over 18 years experience in health practitioner regulation in NSW.
