10 Things an Infectious Diseases Physician would like Dentists to Know

Saturday, 15 September - 9:50am

Advances in medicine and dentistry (e.g. novel technology, new antibiotics, electronic prescribing, online guidelines) should be making the prevention and treatment of infections easier. But are they? Evolving threats such as antibiotic resistance, litigation, healthcare costs, and microbiome science conspire to make the challenges of managing infections and infectious diseases even greater in the coming years.

Prof. Watson is a Senior Staff Specialist in Infectious Diseases at Canberra Hospital and Associate Professor at ANU Medical School. He has broad interests in the management and epidemiology of infections and infectious diseases, both in adults and children, and including hospital and community-acquired infections, HIV infection, and tropical and travel medicine.
